Blessed are we

I saw you today and couldn’t take my eyes off you 

It was a beautiful night and you were shining bright, brighter than most other times 

You weren’t alone but stood out luminous, clear, like a cool mystery 

Those in your company were inspired to be their best in your presence 

O Moon, the celestial rock, you separated from the Earth millions of years ago 

So the Earth could see its own beauty and charisma 

And enjoy a love that couldn’t be fulfilled, had the separation not occurred 


Is it because the Earth wanted to share itself 

And feel a sense of belonging with the other beings of night, all self luminous in their own right 

Is it because the Earth wanted to experience another way of being

And birth out the cosmic light she was carrying within 

Is it because she wanted her earthlings to look up 

And remember where their heavenly roots lie


Blessed are we to be 

Blessed are we to see 

Blessed are we to feel 

Blessed are we to know 

The vast, the pure , the august and graceful movements of the still night sky 

Carrying within the ever fertile seed of the dawn
